While in the belly of the great fish Jonah makes a passionate statement,
When my soul was fainting within me, I remembered the Lord, And my prayer came to You, Into Your holy temple.
Jonah 2:7 AMP
“When my soul was fainting within me”. Jonah was referring to his impending death when he made that statement.
However, life has taught me that you don’t have to be dying to feel like your soul is fainting within you!
Circumstance can leave you feeling like your drowning in your own circumstance, never to rise again.
The question is: who do you call upon when you feel like your drowning? Like physical or emotional death is imminent.
Do you call upon drugs, alcohol, sex, money? Those things fail. They are a temporary disguise to a problem.
Only the Lord is permanent. Only the Lord gives answers that enable you to keep walking through situations that hurt.
Only the Lord can give you the assurance of eternity, even as your soul fails within you.
If you’re soul is failing within you today, physically or emotionally, toss away the answers that only disguise your problems or make them worse.
Remember the Lord!
