Fun Fall Break: Daytrips in Oklahoma

Spread the love

Fall officially begins this week!

Not that this date on the calendar means a whole lot in my home state! We could have winter, summer and fall all in one day here in Oklahoma!

Still, this plaid loving girl is stoked that fall is “officially” upon us. This means bonfires and hot chocolate! With a little luck, we will get some pretty leaves to boot!

The welcoming of fall also means that Fall Break will soon arrive for the kiddos and it’s time to start planning some fun family activities during this respite from school, virtual school, or homeschool!

In honor of this beautiful time of year I thought I’d share a few local activities that we’ve enjoyed throughout the years with our kids!

  • Great Salt Plains in Jet, OK. You’re kids are going to get dirty and bring home buckets of crystals but your kids will LOVE it. Spring or Fall is best for this because it is HOT at the salt plains. Take beach towels, shovels, and buckets. Be aware that the park closes for the season on October 15, 2020.
  • The Kiddie Park in Bartlesville, OK. This amusement park is filled with child size rides. It closes the week before school starts but they are typically open during Fall Break and around Halloween. Get there early if you can because parking can be difficult. This was one of our kids favorite activities when they were still small enough to go! Check out their website www.kiddiepark.net
  • The Shepherds Cross & Heart of the Shepherd. Wooly weekend in the spring is my personal favorite but it’s just an all-around neat place to visit. Check them out at www.shepherdscross.com
  • JM Davis Gun Museum. If you have a kid who likes guns this is the place for you. There is no charge to enter but donations are taken.
  • Livesay Orchard Porter, OK. There are tons of fun activities at this family-owned Oklahoma orchard. Plus, you can pick up a pumpkin to carve or grab apples to make homemade applesauce!

These are just a few ideas of things that I did with my kiddos when they were younger and they LOVED them all!

Whether it’s at a local attraction or just a fun game night at home, carve out some time to enjoy with your kids during this brief little respite from school!
